On May 10, 1996 a team of six Indian climbers from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police expedition were attempting to summit when the blizzard began. Just short of the peak, three of the six chose to continue with the summit while the others returned to base camp.
Over the course of the next few months 716 Dauphine was a hub of activity. Each night the neighbors heard the tinkling of music carry on the breeze; they heard the giggling of women and the deep, masculine chuckles of the men, and they also heard the distinct sounds of pleasure.
